Our Legacy
Khol Khel is deeply rooted in a legacy of entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and cultural preservation that spans generations.
- Manna Lal Ji Sureka migrated from Rajasthan to Bengal in the 1880s and established himself as a trader. He constructed four apartment buildings in Kolkata’s Burra Bazar, one of which was committed to a charitable trust.
- Shyam Lal Ji Sureka, his grandson, pioneered the manufacturing of narrow fabrics in India in 1946 and established the Durga Dutt Sureka Smriti Nidhi, dedicated to social welfare, education, and preserving tradition and culture.
- Raj Gopal Sureka, his son, founded Khol Khel with his sons, in 2021 with a mission to revive and promote ancient play traditions as an alternative platform for learning and entertainment.
This lineage of visionaries has laid the foundation for Khol Khel’s work—where craft, culture, and play come together to inspire future generations.
