Ka Kaa Ki is a dynamic “three-in-a-row” game that can be enjoyed by up to 20 people at a time and is often called the “family version” of tic-tac-toe because every move keeps the board alive with possibilities until the very end. Its profound uniqueness lies in the absence of ownership i.e. no player claims any shape or piece. All collaborate toward a shared board evolution (square → pentagon → circle), challenging conventional definitions of winning and losing.
Every move aims to forge 3s-in-a-row while subtly thwarting the next player's chance, mirroring life's lesson: we lack control over others' actions, yet they shape our journey positively or negatively. Embrace letting go to restart.
Objective
Be the player who completes the most “patterns” of 3 in a row (orthogonally, diagonally, or horizontally) to score points. When the board is completely filled with circles, the player with the highest number of points wins, but true mastery is collaborative flow, where collective moves birth (or block) triumphs.
What You Need
Board: A 3×3 grid with crevices to place the pieces.
Markers: 9 triangular prism pieces with squares, pentagons and circles printed on each of the flat faces.
How to Set Up
All pieces/markers are off the board.
All spaces start empty.
Decide who goes first.
How to Play (Step-by-Step)
On your turn you must choose ONE of these three actions:
Place a new “square” token on any empty space.
Move any existing token from one space to another empty space (anywhere on the board).
Flip a token that is already on the board:
From a square → flip it to a pentagon, or
From a pentagon → flip it to a circle. (No other flips allowed!)
Whenever you create 3 in a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal; any shape), you score 1 point.
The game continues until every space on the board is filled with a circle.
Final scoring: Count your points — the player with the most threes-in-a-row wins!
