Nyaas – The Ancient Cooperative Board Game of Shared Joy
Inspired by historic single-track Indian race games like Panch Kheliya and Chowka-Bhara, Nyaas is an engaging, collective board game designed for groups and young learners. Built around the philosophy of trusteeship and shared responsibility, players do not own individual pieces—instead, everyone works with a shared pool of tokens to advance them through a clockwise spiral mat, celebrating collective contribution and flexible strategy.
Why You'll Love It
-
Shared-Piece Gameplay: Eliminates traditional player ownership—anyone can move any token on the board, cultivating trust, cooperation, and group decision-making.
-
Early Childhood Skill-Building: Tailored for primary ages (3–8), promoting foundational counting, spatial movement along spirals, and numerical understanding without the pressure of individual loss.
-
Inclusive & Group-Friendly: Accommodates 4 to 8 players seamlessly, making it an ideal choice for classrooms, family gatherings, and community festivals.

How to Play
1. Setup
Place the spiral mat in the center and position players in a circle around it. Every player contributes 5 tokens into a single Shared Bank beside the board.
2. Roll & Command
Players take turns rolling a standard six-sided die to determine their action:
-
Roll a 1 or 6: Take 1 token from the Shared Bank and place it on Space 1 (the center of the spiral).
-
Roll a 2, 3, 4, or 5: Move any token or stack on the board clockwise toward Space 9 by the exact number rolled. (If the Bank is empty, rolls of 1 or 6 are used to advance pieces on the board instead).
3. Stacking & Splitting Mechanics
-
Stacking: Tokens landing on the same space merge into a stack (up to a maximum of 5 tokens). A player can choose to move the entire stack forward as a single unit using their roll.
-
Splitting: Alternatively, players can split a stack and distribute individual moves across tokens equal to their total die roll for precise positioning.
4. Clearing the Board
To move a token or stack completely off the board, a player must land exact rolls past Space 9. The player who executes the final roll collects those tokens. The game continues until the Shared Bank and spiral board are completely empty!
